Saying No When Asked To Do Something, By Joy Wei-Addo

Saying No When Asked To Do Something

By Joy Wei-Addo

As individuals we have choices and our choices make and unmake us. The choices we make today determine how the future is going to be for us. As humans God has given us our will. He created us in His image and likeness, but yet He still gave us our will. If not He would have created us like robots so that we will only be commanded about by Him to do His will.

Left to follow our will alone, hell will break loose, but thank God, when we come to Christ we are a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17
We are made righteous and so we do that which is righteous and pleasing to him who has called us. We do what is right also because that is the right thing to do and it's the will of God.

2 Corinthians 5: 21
Many a times we are influenced by our pears, friends and even family to do that which we ourselves wouldn't want to do. Our question now is "how do we say NO if someone asks you to do something you cannot do?"

Before you say no to doing anything you should have a reason even if it's a yes. Every artifact comes out with a manual but we humans have the bible as our manual. If what you have been asked to does not conform with scripture just make your stand known to the person asking you to do it.

You don't do that bluntly but in a beautiful, gentle and loving manner. The Bible says we should give honor to whom honor is due. The fact that the person is asking you to do that which may be wrong doesn't mean you should show disrespect to him or her. It wouldn't speak well of us as Godly girls. Remember in all your dealings men must see you and give glory to your father in heaven. Your pronouncement must even lead that soul to Christ.

Colossians 4:6 The other day when Satan put Jesus to test, he could have bluntly put the devil right but with scripture, he defeated the devil. The same way when the teachers of the law came to him with questions. He knew they knew their minds but he still answered them and answered them right.

Finally as Godly Girls for God and children of Zion, our life also defines us. If at the unset you prove your stand in your actions and attitude, I know that before somebody approaches us with something that person would think twice.

Our life, our character or behavior will tell the person if we can do what he is going to ask us to do.

Psalm 1:1 says blessed is he who does not walk in the counsel of the unrighteous. Let's be agents of change in our generation
