Psalm 118:24, By Ella P.

Psalm 118:24

By Ella P.

Sometimes I get the feeling that God isn't with me - that He's too busy with all the miracles and life saving to deal with my little problems. For instance, today I was getting my math test back. I had been praying for days that He would help me get better grades... I'd been trying so hard and was confident this time I would get at least a low B. When I got my test back, before looking at it, I said a prayer. When I turned it over... AN F!!!! It felt like a giant wave just hit me in the face.
Why wasn't God there for me? Why did He let me fail? Turns out He was there all along. I realized it when I read this:

Psalm 118:24
“This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and and be glad in it.”

It showed me that God is there for me good times and bad. And to rejoice in each day. Celebrate life! Even when things don't turn out the way you want. Like my dad always says, "God doesn't always give you what you want, He gives you what you need."
Maybe that grade was just motivation for me to try harder next time! I shouldn't let adversity get in the way of my happiness. I now know that God is always there for me!
Thank you Psalms! :)

Living for Him, By Ella P.

Living for Him

By Ella P.

Today something happened that changed me...
I was at church today. It seemed like a pretty normal service. Just like any other one... That week, the subject was "grace."They gave a definition..."Getting something you don't deserve."

It's true. We didn't deserve what Jesus did for us. But He did it anyways.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." My pastor was talking about if you have accepted His grace. He said a prayer for the people who have, and haven't. And that for everyone that has to start living for God.

I thought I was one of the people who had already accepted Him into my life. I prayed, I read the Bible, I went to church every week. But what does all of that mean if you don't have a relationship with God? What does it mean when you love Him but don't do anything at all to serve Him?

It means you haven't REALLY accepted God to be a part of your life. And so I decided that day.. That second... I would get up, and do something! I would serve Him! I would really LIVE FOR HIM. He gave me grace. And now I'm living for Him. Thank you God, for opening my eyes. And I ask you to open the eyes of others, so that they may live for you!

Amen :)

Putting God first Ella P.

Putting God first

By Ella P.
Over the past few weeks I've been having trouble connecting with God. I let internet and friends take over the time I could be using to spend with Him. I've been letting myself drift away. And I'm actually breaking the first of the 10 Commandments: Put God first. I'm not putting Him first. Spending time with Him should be my first priority, but it's not and I realize I have to fix that.
Maybe a good start would by praying. You can pray all day everyday. But not JUST for a cry of help, or want. But to talk to Him. You don't only need to talk to Him when you're in trouble, or want something, or need something to happen. But talk to Him. Yes, He's father.
Yes He's Savior. Yes He's Creator, but He's also our friend. God is your friend. So don't let these distractions pull you away from Him. He has open ears, and is always willing to listen. Try spending some time with Him. Think about if what you're doing is important, and I will try to do the same.
