Distractions: Stressful and Depressing, By Tammie C.

Distractions: Stressful and Depressing

By Tammie C.

Girls, we know that we are easily upset; sometimes the simplest things we do cause us to give up. But then sometimes we are strong, because we have our dignity at stake in everything we do, so, we survive. That’s how we handle things, right? Even in the last drop, we always make things last as long as possible. Distractions are so common that they make our fast-paced daily lives seem normal. We always think that being depressed is a lonely mode and being stressful is very hard to work with. But look at the brighter way instead - remember each good thing that happens in your day when you feel stressed or depressed, and break the cycle. Maybe today you would have a break from things that rush up every day. Don’t fill your time with more busy, pointless things. Keep your day happy and right - don’t be trapped in those worldly problems. We know that God is with us, and every single day we live, He is always guiding us, and watching us walk on the path where He will lead us. Make it a day worth it to you, and for Him.
Do you notice that every time we are stressed out we would rather cook some comfort food for dinner instead of going outside? When you are depressed maybe you would appreciate someone giving you a hug and treating you to lunch. In these simple ways we try to overcome the stress or depression. We can help those around us by noticing them again and making them feel that we are with them in that stressful day.
Also, it is good to observe the Sabbath, a day where you come back to God for all those things that put a rush in your day. When you lay down in your bed, pray for the things that happen and suppose it will be for the good. The Holy Spirit intercedes to the Father for us, too.
Remember always: Sabbath is God’s rest for the fast-paced of the world.

Far is Near, Short is Long, By Kaylee S.

Far is Near, Short is Long

By Kaylee S.
Sometimes I feel like Jesus is so far away from me.  I listen to a lot of Pillar, and Audrey Assad, and Yancy, and I love music so this helps me.  It helps me a lot because I love Jesus and I love music, but sometimes I don’t want to stop listening because I know if I do I feel further away from Jesus.

When I stop listening to them I still feel sad so I’ll go on my dad’s computer and use Paint Shop Pro or Coreldraw and try and make some pretty graphics, and that’s fun but I still feel sad.  So I’ll stop that and go downstairs and bake something.  I love baking things and that makes me happy for a while, but when I’m done I’m still sad.

So when I’m all done fooling around with all the worldly things, I pick up my Bible and start looking through it.  I did all these things today after I came home from school and about an hour ago I read John 11:35.  I think it’s the shortest verse in the Bible, but for me it was really long.  It says Jesus wept!  That’s all, but when I read I that thought “Jesus is God and He was crying when He was here.”  Jesus is God and He was crying. I couldn’t stop thinking about that.
So I listened to some more music and I was making some more graphics, because that verse started really bothering me, and then it was like Jesus rang a really loud gong and said “Kaylee, I cried a lot when I was there just like your crying right now, its very sad on earth so just know that I love you very much.”  Jesus cried a lot when He was here and told me it’s OK to cry because He loves me.

So now I’m not as sad as I was before because Jesus told me He loves me and it’s OK when I’m sad.  I just have to remember that when I’m really sad, Jesus is thinking about me and still loves me a lot.  One thing I was thinking about was that I never heard Jesus that loud before!

Putting God first Ella P.

Putting God first

By Ella P.
Over the past few weeks I've been having trouble connecting with God. I let internet and friends take over the time I could be using to spend with Him. I've been letting myself drift away. And I'm actually breaking the first of the 10 Commandments: Put God first. I'm not putting Him first. Spending time with Him should be my first priority, but it's not and I realize I have to fix that.
Maybe a good start would by praying. You can pray all day everyday. But not JUST for a cry of help, or want. But to talk to Him. You don't only need to talk to Him when you're in trouble, or want something, or need something to happen. But talk to Him. Yes, He's father.
Yes He's Savior. Yes He's Creator, but He's also our friend. God is your friend. So don't let these distractions pull you away from Him. He has open ears, and is always willing to listen. Try spending some time with Him. Think about if what you're doing is important, and I will try to do the same.
