God in this 4th

God In This 4th

By Rachel V.

What do we do on Fourth of July? Have a bar-b-q? Eat watermelon? Play games? Have a big, big party? Of course, these are all fun and good, but I want to talk about something more.

Who formed this country? Most people would say the Fathers. You know, George Washington, John Adams, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and all the rest. But I would say they HELPED form this country. Without God, there wouldn’t be a United States of America.

Nothing can happen without God. Nothing can BE without God. It’s not possible. Every little thing that we do, say, and even think was planned by God in the beginning. We can’t take credit for being a nation or existing to live in this nation. When we wave the Star Spangled Banner this Fourth of July, let us be thankful to God for making us. He didn’t need for us to be created, you know. He didn’t need to make the Earth. He didn’t need to make US. We are just in existence because the Lord loves us and pities us. THAT’S ALL.

But this should humble us. And make us love him more.  Our Father in Heaven actually cares for us; us the lowly, dirty, disgusting, sinful humans that we are. How can this be? We don’t deserve it! At all.

God is the gracious and merciful High Priest. We depend on him for our and our country’s livelihood. Therefore, Fourth of July should be like a Thanksgiving in the summer. Thank God, this 4th for keeping us and our country safe. It could have been a lot worse. And pray that our country will turn back to God, once again.

Have a Happy Fourth of July, and God bless!
