Phoning to Heaven

The other day I talked to one of my best friends that I haven't talk to
in a very long time - over a year. I didn't have time to talk to her
before. We had lost connection and finally started talking to each other
again, because she needed my help. I thought of an analogy that ties
God to this. (I think you'll understand this, it has modern technology).
Saying a prayer is like a phone call to God. You praised Him and talked
to Him and loved him. Next, you started to do bad stuff, and grow apart
from God. The signal finally broke and the call was over. You didn't
have time for Him and brushed Him off. You had to go get your nails done
or watch a movie you know shouldn't. Then, the bad stuff starts rolling
in. You need to get help from a friend that has helped you before. You
reach for a way out of the darkness, out of the no signal zone. But you
have to take the first step toward the signal; A step towards God. You
call Him and He picks up, out of mercy. He helps you get back your
signal, and helps grow stronger. His love and mercy is so powerful, that
you can get signal; even in the shadiest spot in back of the woods.

Love Your Enemies

You are at McDonald's. It's pretty empty. There's a girl at the next
table that goes to your school. She's the mean, but popular girl. She's
crying her eyes out. You know she's not a Christian by the way she acts;
she is rude. You aren't a big fan of hers. By the way, you are the
person that she probably likes the least. Should you go over and help
her? She has been mean to you in the past. Should you tell her about
God?
What if she makes fun of you? You know she needs help. What
would you do? In Matthew, Chapter 5 verses 43-48 it talks about loving
your enemies. As much as she was mean to you, God wants us to still
love. He wants us to help others up, even if they've pushed us down in
the past. It's hard not to have bitterness, hate, and well... more hate.
God can help us. Pray for her. Go over and tell her about God. She
might listen or she might not. God wants us to try. God wants us to show
them love and compassion. It's something that everybody has to learn,
including me. I had been bullied for 5 years, by the same person. They
are still bitter, and rude toward me. But, I know that God wants us to
show love. So... I try to show an abundance of it.

The Voice

This past year, I’ve really seen bullying. Most of the time, I tell
the bully to back off. But when it came to this one kid that I didn’t
particularly enjoy, I never said anything a just felt bad. His family is
military so he has been in my area for the past year. But now, people
just bully him right and left. I felt bad because I never really stood
up. I realized that I was just as bad as those mean kids. I once heard
that ‘’Evil Triumphs when a good man does nothing.’’ Not saying anything
is accepting the fact that I agree with them instead of the victim.
Today I made a stand. I stood up from my desk, walked over, and told the
bully to go away. Standing up is not easy to do. I’ve been spat upon,
cursed at, chewed out, almost hit. But Jesus had that too. When they do
that, it just makes me feel better. I can’t explain the feeling where
you know good has victory. God will speak though you. So stand up,
girls, stand up for what you believe in. Stand up for your fellow
neighbor. Stand up for God. Speak out. 1st Peter 5:8-9 says ‘’Be alert
and of sober mind. Your enemy like the devil prowls around like a
roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in
the faith, because you know that the family of Believers throughout the
world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings,’’ Every voice matters.
Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King Day is January 21st this year.
Martin Luther King was a Baptist Minister. He lived in a pretty rough
time period, that we now call the Civil Rights movement. Martin Luther
King was a Christian; just like us, he believed in God. When I hear
about Martin Luther King, I don't hear much about him being a Christian.
But as I research more, I believe that he is a very good role model for
Christians. He strongly believed in the Bible. He said that it was
filled with truths. He knew in his heart that one day, all the people
who were different and that were treated differently still had the same
hope to "make it to the promise land."
God used Martin Luther King as a leader; he was a leader and a
Christian. God used Martin Luther King and many others to make a
difference in the world. Right now, it might feel as if we are useless
or purposeless, but God has a plan for you, and for me, and for your friends, and your family.
Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I know the plans I have for you.' Declares the
Lord 'Plans to prosper and not harm you, plans to give you a hope and a
future.''
