Hidden Seeds
And
as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
2 Thessalonians 3:13 NIV
2 Thessalonians 3:13 NIV
Have you ever watched squirrels
around this time? They scurry about burying acorns and nuts. Later, they dig
all over the yard, sometimes forgetting where they buried their winter stash.
When our furry, little friends don’t
reap the harvest of their work, does this make them decide not to go through
the labor next year? No, you’ll see them at it again come fall.
They don't let it discourage them, because they know the labor isn't entirely in vain. What the squirrels don’t realize is those forgotten acorns can bring forth a different harvest. A seed may take root and grow into a beautiful tree.
We’re like them in many ways.

We’re like them in many ways.
The words of cheer and acts of
kindness we spread are like seeds entering the hearts of the receivers. We
can’t see inside the individual to know if God uses those seeds to draw the
person closer to Him.
Unlike the squirrels, we can become discouraged. We think the good things we do don’t matter and forget the fact that God can use even the smallest things to make a big difference.
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 NIV
