True Love

True Love

By Adebisi A.
It's around that time of the year everyone wants a date. Some wonder why they couldn't get dates and they feel down. But as Christian girls, have we ever sat down to evaluate our love for God?
John 3:16 Says,
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life."
God gave us His Son. Which was His way of showing His love for us and redeeming us. But are we faithful to this love He has given us and do we accept His love? Instead of worrying about not getting dates or something, why don't you spend more time with God in His presence and show His love to others and also make yourself happy.

Living for Him, By Ella P.

Living for Him

By Ella P.

Today something happened that changed me...
I was at church today. It seemed like a pretty normal service. Just like any other one... That week, the subject was "grace."They gave a definition..."Getting something you don't deserve."

It's true. We didn't deserve what Jesus did for us. But He did it anyways.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life." My pastor was talking about if you have accepted His grace. He said a prayer for the people who have, and haven't. And that for everyone that has to start living for God.

I thought I was one of the people who had already accepted Him into my life. I prayed, I read the Bible, I went to church every week. But what does all of that mean if you don't have a relationship with God? What does it mean when you love Him but don't do anything at all to serve Him?

It means you haven't REALLY accepted God to be a part of your life. And so I decided that day.. That second... I would get up, and do something! I would serve Him! I would really LIVE FOR HIM. He gave me grace. And now I'm living for Him. Thank you God, for opening my eyes. And I ask you to open the eyes of others, so that they may live for you!

Amen :)

Who is Jesus and what does He mean to us, By Treanna B.

Who is Jesus and what does He mean to us.

 By TreAnna B.

It saddens me to know that there really are people in this world that will ask these questions. I know there is. I know that there is people that do not yet know Christ, but it still amazes me as I search through articles, watch television, or simply read a book and questions like this are in evidence.
The question "Who is Jesus and what does He mean to us" is a simple one. You could walk up to any Christian on the street and they will tell you, especially I (and I am a Christian) will tell you Jesus is the way and the life. He is God's son. This statement in itself does not hold up very well because in theory it is an opinion. Unless you believe in the Bible I cannot prove to you it is a fact.
Before we get any further on this issue let me say this. I have heard in various places mostly in school, from my teachers, that unless you truly want to do something, believe in something, you will not, because no matter what I say; no matter what your best friend says; no matter what your daughter, son, sister, brother, mother, father, pastor, or significant other says, you will not do something, believe in something unless you are convinced it is worth doing or believing. A quote one of my past teachers said was, “There is no one person in this world that will make you do anything. What ever you do is of your own will.” I am here to say I believe that wholeheartedly.
Moving back to the issue at hand. I can answer quite simply that Jesus is God’s son and leave it at that; however, I will not. Jesus is God’s son, but He is also my best friend. He is also the one who performed so many miracles in the past. Most importantly He is the one who died on a cross to save us from our sins. You are sitting there, reading this article and thinking, “How does she have proof of this? Why should I believe what some teenage girl says? This is hardly proof!” Well sirs, and madams, boys, and girls, whoever may be reading this article and asking this question, I will try and supply you with an answer.
John 3:16 states that “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” I admit that putting this statement in this particular article probably was not a good idea for it opens up so much more controversy, but it is a fact; a fact that we will not debate on in this particular piece.
Jesus is life. I cannot give you much more proof than what is in the above paragraph. If you think I am making this up, consult with any priest or pastor I assure you they will tell you almost the same thing, if not the identical thing. I could tell you to go to any bookstore, get a Bible and look up this statement, but I am sure most of you would not do that.
The next part of the question, “what does He mean to us” is a much harder thing to answer. In all simplicity Jesus means everything. He means life. He means peace. He means love. He means and He is sacrifice, but then again what does He mean to us? This is a question I cannot answer for all, because for each person it is different. All I can say is what He means to me, what he represents to me. Love. To others He may be a blessing. He may be help, and yet to others who do not know Him, He is just a name.
For those of you who read this article and push it to the side as opinion, I pray for you. For those of you who read this article and accept it and believe it, I rejoice with you. Most of all to the ones who read this and accept Christ as their Savior, I am pleased for you. Most of the people that read this are going to toss it to the side as myth, lies, and half-truths. As I said earlier,  I cannot make you believe what you do not want to believe. I cannot convince you to do what you cannot do, but I hope with all my heart that the ones that read this will not simply throw it away as they do so many other things in life.
A simple question, yet it has to have such a complicated answer. Or does it?

Sacrifice, By Joy W.

Sacrifice

By Joy W.

John 3:16 – 21
Everyone who desires anything must be ready to sacrifice. Life is full of sacrifices and God gave us one beautiful, wonderful and unfathomable example of how He showed His love to mankind through sacrifice. And as the song writer writes “Grace who will earn than a man will sacrifice himself for a brother?"  Only God will do such and so He sacrificed His only son so that on entire world will be saved forever. That is sacrifice. And so He did not come to condemn the world but rather through Him the world must be saved. Every good seed of sacrifice sowed always sprouts good fruits as well.
If you want to pass exams as a student, you must sacrifice a little sleep and a little comfort to learn, by sitting up late to learn, to get what you want. A mother will have to sacrifice her sleep to sit up and watch her children sleep before she herself sleeps, and that is sacrifice. And in the same way you would sacrifice a dress or some food for a friend in need. You may not get a physical exchange but you would have that inner joy of helping a brother and a friend.
Do unto others as you want others to do unto you and the more you sacrifice for the physical and spiritual well-being of others the more people see it needful to do for you, too.
And whenever you do any of these things (sacrificing) you feel like everybody should do the same, and you are unashamed. See, nobody doing evil will let people see, and so are the occults and the secret worshippers who worship the Devil (it is done in secret, in the dark). Every robber fears the police because what he does is evil. Darkness is always not able to stand light - not in any manner - and whenever light shines, darkness is not able to contain it. Man loves darkness and hates lights because nobody doing evil brings it to light.
So walk in the light!

Our Loving God, By Kaylee S.

Our Loving God

By Kaylee S.
Good morning ladies!  It’s 4:30 in the morning and I don’t know why I woke up so early, but I thought I would write something that’s in my heart right now.

John 3:16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

How wonderful to have such a loving God!  Our heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent His own Son to die for us.  To take death away from us all and transfer that death to Jesus, our Father’s only Son, is a love that escapes me in its beauty.  A love that is so far beyond and above our limited and sinful minds that is so wonderful, and beautiful, and graceful, and loving, and peaceful and so many other things… it really boggles my mind.
I’m sure I get this from my dad, but I get so far into the deep things of God, that sometimes in the summer at night I’ll go outside and sit in the back yard, and gaze up at the stars and just pray and think about Jesus.  What is heaven really like?  I’ll talk to Jesus for a while and then I’ll talk to my mom, and I know that one day Jesus will take me to go to heaven to be with Him. That’s exciting for me and I can hardly wait.  To think that one day I’m going to be with Jesus!

So, I know we live in a world where there is evil, but I try to think of the good things that Jesus does for me, like giving me my BFF Trish who I love so much and I know that she loves me a lot, and when I think about eternal life that Jesus gives me… I am so lost in His love!  But I was thinking what other Scriptures can you find that talks about how much God loves us?

Write us what you think of at godlygirls@yahoo.com !
Remember to put the subject as, "How much God loves us."

Valentine’s Day Special, By Emma G.

Valentine’s Day Special

By Emma G.

“Give thanks to the God of Heaven. His love endures forever”
PSALM 136:26
The year is 279AD, you’re in Rome and you’ve just met the love of your life. The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting and you’re skipping along until you stop, dead in your tacks. You’ve just remembered, marriage has been banned-all single men are being packed off to the army, now what?
There was one priest called Valentine. He loved God and knew that marriage was from God; he’d been secretly
marrying couples anyway. On February 14th he was caught and executed- leaving a love note for the jailer’s daughter before he died. Since then, lovers have been exchanging notes, cards and gifts on this day and so it has become known as Valentine’s Day. So how about you? Did the postman pull a muscle trying to squeeze your vast mountains of cards through the letterbox, or was it as expected, no secret admirers and the one person you thought might spend $1 on a card forgot or ‘thought you weren’t bothered about that sort of thing!’

Before you get too depressed or excited, remember one thing- God loves you and reckons you’re amazing! ‘Huh, little consolation’ you’re thinking? Well Jesus did more than send you a poxy WHSmith card with a cheesy rhyme. How’s this for a Valentine message? ‘I love you so much that I will give my life so that if you believe in me then you won’t die but live forever’. Now that’s true love- “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus Christ, so that whoever believes in Him may not be lost, but have eternal life!” (John 3:16). God loves you so much that He actually let His Son Jesus give up His life for you! And now, you’re free to spend all of eternity with him.
Try to spend some time today thinking about Jesus’ passion for you, the ultimate act of love. Remember, there is no greater love than that- you can’t possibly be more loved by anyone. God IS love, true love comes from Him and through Him and by Him. On this day, when love is celebrated; remember to tell Him how much you love Him too!

What Does "Love" Really Mean? By Courtney

What Does "Love" Really Mean?

By Courtney S.

Love, what does the word love really mean? On Bible Gateway it pulls up 695 verses of the Bible with love in it. One of my very favorite Bible verses, John 3:16 reads: For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ to die for us. Webster's dictionary defines love as: A unselfish, loyal, and benevolent concern for the good of another. That is exactly how God feels for us. Even though we are sinful people he loves us unconditionally. He loves us even when we don't love him.

In the English language, love is used in so many different ways. I sign love, Courtney to my friends. I say, "I love yo," to my Grandma. On Valentine's day when you have to give cards to all the people in your class including, people you probably have never talked to, you sign Love, whatever your name is. I like how one of the CGC members named Allison signs her emails: Jesus Loves You! Allison.

I was on the Brio magazine website and I read an article that said how love was used way to carelessly. Star struck girls say: I love Zac Efron or I love Jesse McCartney. Do you really? How can you love someone unconditionally and unselfishly who you don't even know?  On movies, girls go on dates with the cutest guy at school and they come home saying I'm in love. The next day the guy, doesn't remember her. I don't think that is unconditional love. Do you? That just means the guy romanced her. In other words she bought into his flirtatious behavior. She fell for his trap. That is all that is.

I would love to hear your thoughts please send your comments and questions!

Remember Jesus is love,

Easter and What it Means, By Megan H.

Easter and What it Means

By Megan H.

I was just thinking the other day how much kids today see Easter as a fun day. With plenty of egg finding and treats from the Easter bunny. But how often do they think of Jesus during that day and what he did for us. When I think of Easter or see Easter coming up on the calender a certain verse pops into my mind:

"For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

What is normally the first thing you think of? When you think of Jesus' Crucifixion and Resurrection, Think of all the things he went through, and why.

Pain, Suffering, and Humiliation: "Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews. And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him." Matthew 27:27-31

Death: "Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost." Matthew 27:50

All for what? Us! What did we do to deserve such great mercy? Nothing. That, is our Lord! He sovereign, loving, graceful, kind, holy, powerful, but above all He is merciful. He came to this earth for one thing. To die for us, to take our sins for us. Because the blood of sheep, goats, bulls, etc. was not enough. And when He died the significance of the veil taring(And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from top to bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; Matthew 27:51) was that burnt offerings were no longer needed. The blood of Jesus Christ was enough. When He died He had finished his job on the earth.

"When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost." John 19:30

When you think of Easter I hope this is what comes to mind.

"And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life." 1 John 2:25
